Key updates to the recent NTP Study - What you should know

Radiation can cause cancer from phones

After almost two decades of research, a $25-million government study has concluded and established a clear link between exposure to radio frequency radiation (RFR) and cancer in rats.

In its draft, the National Toxicology Program (NTP) at the U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences reported that the growth of tumors in tissues and nerves near the heart of male rodents was observed.

This is after the male rats were subjected to RFR levels from 2G and 3G mobile phones, which are the standard level allowed for local tissue exposure to cell phone radiation.

The research was not able to investigate the effects of RFR levels from the 5G network and Wi-Fi since these are considered as “an emerging technology that hasn’t really been defined yet,” according to Michael Wade, the lead toxicologist of the research.

What was the research about?

The NTP’s recent findings were consistent with its preliminary reports published last year, wherein evidence showed that exposing the rats with Radiofrequency Radiation may lead to certain types of cancer.

As a result, malignant schwannomas were found in male rats, as well as an increase in an unusual pattern of damage to heart tissues in both male and female rats.

The researchers from NTP also found out that newborn mice and their moms are more susceptible to lower body weights when exposed to high RFR levels during pregnancy and lactation.

How does this affect you?

John Bucher, a senior scientist at the NTP, said that “the tumors that were observed in rats are similar to the ones that were reported from previous researches on the effects of frequent smartphone use in humans.”

The study also recognized that the radiation from smartphones is considered as a Class 1 Human Carcinogen, similar to asbestos and smoke from tobacco. As such, the public is encouraged to reduce their exposure to the harmful RFR as much as possible, even at this time and age of the Internet.

The outcomes of this research are deemed as vital and significant since the schwannomas in the heart illustrated the carcinogenic effect of exposure to wireless radiation. More so, previous studies have linked these cells to an increase in acoustic neuromas or tumors of the ears.

What can you do?

According to the latest statistic, at least 95 percent of Americans now own a smartphone. With the recent findings from NTP, our over-dependence on these wireless devices are slowly doing more harm than good.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highly recommends minimizing our smartphone use. They also suggest using the hands-free mode of mobile phones when fielding or receiving calls.

Another way of protecting yourself from the harmful RFR is by using an anti-radiation tablet, smartphone, and laptop cases. These products are lab tested to shield you from the multiple types of radiation and thermal heat. Click here to get protected today!
